The voice can be mysterious, but the facts should not be. When a post reports something as news, it should be based on information that can be supported. Commentary, rumours, submissions and sponsored material should be identified for what they are.
HOW WE KEEP IT LEGIT
SOURCES & CONTEXT
Attribute information where appropriate, link to original sources when useful, and avoid presenting an unverified submission as a confirmed fact.
CORRECTIONS
If a material factual error is confirmed, correct the story and make the update clear enough that readers are not left with the wrong impression.
ORIGINAL VALUE
Summaries should add Toronto context, original reporting, analysis or a distinct editorial angle instead of simply republishing another outlet's work.
DISCLOSURES
Paid, sponsored or promotional relationships should be disclosed. Editorial coverage should not be sold as independent reporting.
